H2O & Climate Conference

27 October, 2024

The Department of Civil Engineering announced its H2O & Climate Conference from 26-27 October, imparting in-depth knowledge of hydraulics and hydrology of watersheds, and the effects of climate change to the young researchers and PhD scholars of the country.

Effective planning and efficient management of water resources requires a sound understanding of hydraulics and hydrology. Satisfying the increasing anthropogenic water demands is one of the biggest challenges for sustainable water resources management. Climate change due to anthropogenic activities has compounded the challenge due to time-delayed feedback effects on the hydrology and hydraulics of the watersheds and changes in water cycle.

This conference aims to promote discussions on the use AI, ML and IoT to address problems in hydrology, hydraulics and water resources management.

The objectives of the conference are:

  • to impart in-depth knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology and the effects of climate change to the young researchers and PhD scholars of the country.
  • to facilitate the exchange of ideas among the stakeholders regarding the challenges in water resources management in India.
  • to address the applications of AI, ML and IoT in hydrology, hydraulics and water resources management.

These will be achieved through a series of keynote lectures by the leading subject experts in the country. The young researchers and PhD scholars will have the opportunity to present their work in three thematic poster sessions and interact with the experts about their research endeavors.
