Received the India DST project

Excited to announce that IITKanpur and JSW Cement team has been awarded the India DST project under the Academia-Industry consortia (Public-Private-Partnership mode) for the deployment of CO2 Capture & Utilization technologies in the cement industry with a total funding of approximately ₹10.5 crores.

Five CCU test beds have been approved under this unique first of its kind national initiative, combining premier research institutions and leading cement manufacturers.

The official announcement was made on the National Technology Day, May 11, 2025, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, with Dr Jitendra Singh, Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, presenting the awards. The award was received by Prof. Soumyabrata Roy (Lead PI), Prof. Raghavendra Ragipani, Prof. Raju Kumar Gupta on behalf of IIT Kanpur; and Dr. Jagabandhu kole (VP R&D, JSW Cement) and Ms. Aishwarya Rai, Deputy Manager-Sustainability, JSW Cement.

IIT Kanpur's project aims to develop and deploy a 1 TPD integrated CO2 capture & mineralization pilot-scale technology at a cement clinker plant, offering holistic value-chain integration and net-negative emissions.
