Prof. Bishakh Bhattacharya and research scientists Kanhaiya Lal Chaurasiya and Yashasvi Sinha of the Department of Mechanical Engineering have developed a game-changing cargo-based hyperloop system for coal and mineral transportation. 

This innovative system promises to revolutionize the way these materials are transported, addressing challenges like material loss, delivery time uncertainty, and air pollution. 

The system features a reliable and accurate positioning and deploys a hybrid multi-sensor fusion strategy for positioning in GPS-denied environments such as tunnels and pipelines. With a power consumption of 107 KW and a delivery rate of 5.6 T/min/km, this system is poised to make a significant impact on the transportation & logistics industry, reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and improving the quality of life. 

The system, developed at the Smart Materials, Structures and Systems(SMSS) Lab of IIT Kanpur was demonstrated successfully at the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 and received positive feedback from experts in the field.
