IIT Kanpur bags STEM Impact Awards 2022 for “Impactful Technology Transfer activities”. Being awarded the second time, the institute has been recognized for the socio-economic impact created with the impactful technology transfer of the invention - Portable Soil Testing Device, named ‘Bhu-Parikshak’. at an award ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. On behalf of IIT Kanpur, Mr. Ravi Pandey, Research Establishment Officer (Innovation and Incubation), IPR Cell, IITKanpur, received the award from Nis Kjaer Weibel, Head Business Development, Technology Transfer Office, Aarhus Universitet. The Bhu-Parikshak, a soil-testing device was developed last year, is a revolutionary hand-held invention that can detect soil health in just 90 seconds. 

This award recognized this revolutionary effort by Prof. Jayant Kumar Singh & his team from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, and complemented the major lag in agriculture activities the device addresses. Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Director IIT Kanpur said, “As a multi-disciplinary institute, our efforts are rooted in developing innovations that can have a lasting impact on the masses. This award bears testimony to the growing R&D ecosystem at IIT Kanpur".
