As an advancement in fortifying the collaborative research and training between the IIT Kanpur and Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), Prof. S. Ganesh, Director, IIT Kanpur and Air Marshal Sadhna S Nair, VSM, DGHS(AF) discussed areas of mutual interest, cooperative and collaborative activities in the field of biomedical research and academics, which will address multidisciplinary scientific, technological and educational problems of relevance to the country. From the Institute, Prof. Sandeep Verma, Professor In-Charge, GSMST, updated the Institute’s progress in biomedical research through the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology.

Discussion topics included faculty exchange programmes, collaborative research in the field of health technology, and cooperative academic endeavours aimed at comprehending the challenges encountered by the Armed Forces. Few key areas of research interest include AI/ML-based casualty and disease prediction models, war-case scenario prediction models, development of various advanced prosthesis and early detection of aircrew fatigue.
