Revolutionizing Diabetes Care — No Fridge Required!
15 Aug, 2025 | Research & Innovation
A major leap in insulin innovation is here, straight from IIT Kanpur Prof. Sandeep Verma & Prof. S. Ganesh have developed next-gen thermostable human insulin analogs that resist heat, avoid fibrillation, and retain full biological activity — even in challenging storage conditions.
Why it matters:
For millions of people with diabetes, daily insulin injections are non-negotiable. But insulin’s tendency to degrade under heat or during transport puts lives at risk — especially in resource-limited or tropical regions.
What’s the breakthrough?
The new analogs:
- Show prolonged thermal stability
- Resist fibrillation far longer than native insulin
- Preserve bioactivity in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo
- Achieve added stability via π–π stacking & hydrogen bonding
Enter Stablin Biosciences — a biotech startup born from this innovation!
Now advancing toward TRL 6–7, the team is actively seeking funding for pre-clinical trials in higher animal models to push this life-saving solution toward reality.
