Agrosil - An innovative Agritech Startup

20 Dec, 2024 | Research & Innovation

Agrosil is an innovative agritech startup founded by Mr. Navneet Gupta in February 2024. The startup, incubated at SIIC IIT Kanpur, focuses on addressing key environmental challenges while creating valuable, sustainable materials from agricultural waste. Agrosil specializes in converting agricultural residues, such as rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw, and corn stover, into high-performance products like amorphous nano silica, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), and lignin.

One of the main issues Agrosil aims to address is the harmful practice of crop residue burning, which is a significant source of air pollution and health risks in India. By using green chemistry approaches, Agrosil converts these agricultural by-products into eco-friendly alternatives, helping reduce pollution and contributing to the circular economy. Their products have a wide range of applications across industries such as pharmaceuticals, construction, cosmetics, and electronics.

The startup's work is supported by funding from CITI, in collaboration with IIT Kanpur. This support has enabled Mr. Gupta to advance his vision of creating a cleaner, more sustainable future by developing innovative materials that can both address environmental concerns and drive industry growth.
