Physics Society Research Scholar Day 2025

09 February, 2025

The Physics Society and the Physics Outreach Team successfully hosted Research Scholar Day 2025 on February 8th and 9th, providing a dynamic platform for young researchers to present their work and exchange ideas. The event kicked off with an inaugural session featuring prominent speakers, including Prof. Dipankar Chakrabarti (HoD), Prof. Sreerup Raychaudhuri (Invited Guest), Prof. R. Vijaya, Prof. Zakir Hossain, and Prof. Satyajit Banerjee. Their presence set the tone for a collaborative and inspiring event that encouraged research exploration and academic growth.

The two-day event featured a variety of sessions, including oral and poster presentations, as well as insightful talks by faculty members, which provided valuable encouragement to the research scholars. A special highlight was the colloquium delivered by Prof. Sreerup Raychaudhuri, a renowned theoretical physicist and Director of the Bharat Kala Bhavan at Banaras Hindu University. His talk resonated deeply with attendees, adding a rich layer to the discussions that bridged the gap between scientific research and cultural insights.

The event concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion titled "In Search of Something to Find: The Journey to a Research Problem," where faculty members shared their personal research experiences and reflections on overcoming challenges in academia. To celebrate the scholars' achievements, four best poster prizes were awarded to Bharti (working with Dr. Chanchal Sow), Chiranjit Majhi (working with Dr. Krishnacharya Khare), Nandita Pan (working with Dr. Supratik Banerjee), and Subrata Pachhal (working with Dr. Adhip Agarwala), recognizing their outstanding contributions to the research community.
