Anviksha: Research Scholars’ Conference
09 February, 2025
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kanpur organized the second edition of Anviksha: Research Scholars’ Conference, focused on the theme "Identities." This interdisciplinary event aimed to explore various viewpoints on identity and the intricate processes behind its formation.
Professor Bhagat Oinam from JNU's Department of Philosophy delivered a talk titled 'Mapping the Contours of Self-Identity: From Individual to Collective and Beyond'. In our increasingly diverse society, identity politics have become more significant, influencing conversations on religion, caste, language, region, class, nation, and gender. In the face of ongoing social change and political polarization, issues like belonging, cultural representation, and material injustice need deeper exploration.
The conference's goal was to bring together scholars to critically analyze how identities are shaped, negotiated, and contested, fostering key conversations that help us navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world.
