On this significant day, Mrs. Geeta Sharma, Secretary of the Women's Association, introduced the session with a focus on the urgent need for energy conservation. Prof. Anubha Goel, from the Department of Civil Engineering, shared eye-opening insights from her research, emphasizing the growing need to conserve energy. 

She shared her study related to energy consumption, under which a house-to-house survey revealed that many households were unaware of their appliances' energy consumption, including air conditioners. Surprisingly, many did not adjust their energy usage based on the number of people in the household! 

As part of an innovative initiative, Prof. Goel's team is now installing meters in homes to monitor the energy usage of individual appliances in neighbourhoods. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage responsible energy practices. Prof. Goel emphasised the need for energy conservation, particularly in urban areas where energy demand is on the rise. The message is clear: We must act now to ensure a sustainable future for our children.
