National Symposium on Shock Waves NSSW 2024 is a venue where researchers working on Shock Waves and its application and Hypersonics meet and share their research findings. This year's event mainly focuses on Hypersonics. 

Only a few Institutes in India are working on Hypersonics rigorously and IITK is proud to be one of them. The event, organised by IITK, saw talks from Scientists and researchers from ISRO, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, and IIT's and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Dr. V. K. Saraswat, Honorable Member NITI Aayog and Dr. Ranjana Nallamalli, Director DFTM, DRDO were present as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively, and inaugurated the event.

The shock wave and Hypersonic community in India is small and one of the main focuses of hosting this event is to inspire the next generation of students to pursue a career in this field.
