Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES Ltd., the leading Transport Infrastructure Consultancy and Engineering under Ministry of Railways. 

It aims to strengthen and develop a sustainable future by working together towards decarbonization in various sectors and NetZero, complemented by climate change studies. 

The MoU was signed by Prof. A.R. Harish, Dean of R&D, IITK, and Mr.Manobendra Ghoshal, Chief Strategy Officer, RITES. We were joined by Prof. Sachchida Nand Tripathi, Prof. Ashish Garg, Prof. Rajeev Jindal, PhD from IITK, and from the RITES Ltd. side, Sh. Rahul Mithal, Chairman and Managing Director; Ms. Sujata Savant, General Manager; Sh. R.K. Choudhary and Dr. Rohini Balasubramanian. 

The first few projects will include real-time monitoring of air pollution in major cities of UP, including Kanpur, and creating pathways for RITES and IITK to achieve NetZero, led by the faculty members in the departments of Civil Engineering, Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, IIT Kanpur and CKCEPCS, IIT Kanpur.
