SIIC IIT Kanpur joins forces with Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences for advancing healthcare

The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), a technology business incubator at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, Etawah (U.P) on August 26th, 2023, at the latter’s premises. Both institutions have come together with a shared vision to drive transformational advancements in healthcare technologies. Prof. Ankush Sharma, Professor-in-charge, Innovation and Incubation, IIT Kanpur and Prof. (Dr) Prabhat Kumar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences, Saifai, Etawah (U.P) were the signatories to this Agreement.

The event also had other dignitaries including, Mr. Piyush Mishra, the Chief Operating and Financial Officer, SIIC, IIT Kanpur; Mr. Jatin Mishra, Manager, SIIC, IIT Kanpur; Prof. (Dr) Usha Shukla, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, UPUMS; Prof (Dr). Chandra Veer Singh, Registrar, UPUMS; Dr. Rahul Mishra, Professor, Dentistry and Chairman, CIIE, UPUMS; Dr. Kamla Pathak, Dean and Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, UPUMS; Dr. Rajesh Thakur, Professor, Dentistry, UPUMS; Dr. Amit Singh, Professor, Microbiology, UPUMS; Dr. Gourav Jain, Assistant Professor, Dentistry, UPUMS; Dr. Bhagat Singh, Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Technology, UPUMS; Dr. Prabodh Shukla, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy; and Dr. Gajram Singh, Demonstrator, Faculty of Paramedical, UPUMS, present on the occasion.

The collaborative efforts of SIIC IIT Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences will initially revolve around the promotion of non-invasive medical devices, leveraging the expertise of both institutions. The contribution of Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences will encompass the facilitation of vital clinical trials for these devices, driving them towards real-world application and benefiting patients.

The collaboration between SIIC IIT Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences goes beyond traditional limits, encompassing a wide range of cooperative efforts. These efforts involve enhancing mentoring, training, and research quality, allowing startups and innovators to utilize shared resources, fostering dynamic collaboration among different stakeholders through interactive events, sharing research infrastructure and expertise within a collaborative framework, and collectively participating in crucial healthcare projects on both national as well as international levels.
