Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur hosted distinguished delegation from the University of Manitoba, Canada, to explore strategic collaborations in global public health and allied deep-technology domains.

Delegation comprised Dr. Michael Benarroch, President and Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Peter Nickerson, Dean, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Josée G. Lavoie, Dean, College of Community and Global Health; Dr. James Blanchard, Executive Director, Institute for Global Health; and Dr. Marissa Becker, Director of Technical Collaborations, Institute for Global Public Health.

Prof. Deepu Philip, Professor-in-Charge, SIIC, presented SIIC’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem, and Domain Head (BioTech/MedTech) Dr. Deepti Chugh outlined Centre’s structured approach to accelerating health-tech startups.

The discussions were further strengthened by the presence of senior officials from the Government of Uttar Pradesh — Dr. Vasanthakumar Namasivayam (Ex-IAS) and Shri Vikas Gothalwal (Ex-IAS) — highlighting the importance of policy alignment and research translation for scalable public health impact.

The engagement reinforced the power of international collaboration in translating research-led deep-tech innovation into scalable, real-world public health solutions.
