20 Apr, 2026 | IITK News
Reaffirming its commitment to grassroots education, IIT Kanpur is inspiring young minds through its innovative Science Bus Project—a first-of-its-kind mobile laboratory bringing experiential STEM learning directly to schools in remote and underserved regions of Uttar Pradesh.
Designed by IIT Kanpur and led by Prof. Deepu Philip and Prof. Satyaki Roy, in collaboration with UPCST the Science Bus offers interactive learning in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Materials & Design, featuring live experiments, AV demonstrations, telescopes, 3D printers, smart materials, and modern scientific equipment.
Currently stationed at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, the bus is visiting nearby schools, engaging students—especially from rural, underprivileged, and single-teacher schools—through expert-led outreach sessions.
Prof. Vandana Singh, Vice-Chancellor, VBSPU, and Ms. Rachana Agarwal, Project Executive Officer, IIT Kanpur, emphasized that experimental learning sparks curiosity, innovation, and logical thinking, connecting science beyond textbooks.
Empowering students, with real-world scientific exposure and nurturing a strong scientific temper across the state.
