We are delighted to share that Prof. Sandeep Shukla, a distinguished faculty member of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur, will take charge as the Director of IIIT Hyderabad. A globally respected researcher, educator, and thought leader, Prof. Shukla currently serves as a Rajiv and Ritu Batra Endowed Chair for Cyber Security at IIT Kanpur. 

He headed the department between 2017 and 2020 and was the Poonam & Prabhu Goel Chair Professor between 2016-2019, along with being a joint director of the National Interdisciplinary Centre for Cyber Security & Cyber Defence of Critical Infrastructures,  C3i Hub, IIT Kanpur. He is also a joint director of the National Blockchain Project funded by the PMO. 

With research interests spanning Cyber Security, Blockchain Technology, Formal Methods, and many more among a few. Prof. Shukla has authored over 300 peer-reviewed papers, co-edited several noted journals, and held editorial roles in leading journals from IEEE and ACM. 

His contributions have been recognized globally, earning him honours such as: 

• IEEE Fellow (2014) 
• ACM Distinguished Scientist (2013) 
• Humboldt Bessel Award (2008) 
• Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (USA, 2004) 

He also serves as an advisor to key national organizations, including the National Payments Corporation of India, contributing his expertise in cybersecurity and emerging technologies. 

Prof. Shukla’s leadership and vision have had a lasting impact on India’s technological and academic ecosystem, and we are confident that IIIT Hyderabad will greatly benefit from his guidance.
