Astronomy Club at IIT Kanpur marked its 50th anniversary with AstroVenture'25, featuring Dr. Annapurni Subramaniam, Director of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA). With over three decades of research and 175 published papers, Dr. Subramaniam is the first woman to lead IIA. She shared insights on ‘How Astronomy Drives Technology?’ She played a key role as calibration scientist for the Ultra-Violet Imaging Telescope (UVIT) aboard AstroSat, India’s first space observatory, and is leading the proposed next-generation UV-Optical space telescope project, INSIST.
