It is with great pride that we extend a huge congratulations to Prof. Srinivas Bettadpur (MT/AE/1985), professor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering & Engineering Mechanics, The University of Texas at Austin, on being recognized with the 2024 Charles A. Whitten Medal.

This prestigious medal is awarded by the American Geophysical Union to a senior scientist in recognition of outstanding achievement in research on the form and dynamics of the Earth and planets.

Prof. Bettadpur, an expert in orbital mechanics and space geodesy, has been at the forefront of research that uses space-based metrology and remote sensing to model Earth’s dynamics. 

With a multitude of accolades in his name, including the NASA Exceptional Public Achievement Medal, the European Geosciences Union Vening-Meinesz Medal, Associate Fellow of the AIAA, and a Fellow of the IAG, his collaboration with his alma mater through the National Centre for Geodesy IIT Kanpur is yet another testament to his immense global contribution to the field.
